Men's Water Polo | November 20, 2017
After helping lead the USC men's water polo team to back-to-back MPSF Tournament titles, senior goalie
McQuin Baron has landed back-to-back MPSF Tournament MVP honors for himself. He's joined on the 2017 MPSF All-Tournament team by two fellow seniors,
Lachlan Edwards and
Matteo Morelli
Baron pinned up 16 saves in USC's must-win victory over top-seeded host Stanford to anchor a 10-5 win over the Cardinal and score a spot in the final. Morelli and Edwards each punched in a key goal for the Trojans in that one to help solidify USC's trip to the title match. In the final, Baron pinned up 11 more blocks, ballooning his career count to 1,055 to lift him just three saves away from taking over as the MPSF's all-time saves leader. On the offensive end, Morelli scored two big goals and won every opening sprint for the Trojans, while Edwards was a beast at two-meters, earning countless exclusions and delivering USC's final goal in the 7-5 championship victory over UCLA.
In all, Edwards and Morelli each scored four goals at the tourney, while Baron accumulated a grand total of 32 saves in 10 periods of work. Baron was also named the MPSF Tournament MVP last season. This is Edwards and Morelli's first MPSF All-Tournament Team accolades.
