Trojan Justin Suh just missed the third title of his senior year, finishing one stroke out of first Tuesday (March 19) in the final round of the National Invitational Tournament at the OMNI Tucson National while USC took second for its fifth top 2 this year.
 
The Trojans combined for a 29-under 835 (279-270-286), finishing behind an Arizona State squad that put together one of its best tournaments in program history, winning at 50-under 814 (280-263-271). Oklahoma was third, a stroke back of USC.
 
Suh began the final day with a 2-stroke lead at 14-under and put together a clean round with birdies on 10 and 14 to finish at 16-under 200 (66-64-700). He was caught and passed, however, by Arizona State's Alex del Rey, whose birdie on 17 propelled his win at 17-under 199 (69-64-66).
 
The finish was Suh's fifth top 4 this year, complementing a pair of wins and a pair of ties for fourth. He lowered his stroke average to 64.48, under his school record of 68.73 set last season.
 
Sophomore Issei Tanabe tied for 13^th at 6-under 210 (75-66-69), his fourth top 13 this year while his final two rounds give him 10 under 70 this season, second-best on the team. He had three birdies today without a bogey.
 
Sophomore Kaito Onishi, who flirted with a top 10 finish, tied for 19^th at 5-under 211 (69-69-73) for his fifth top 19 this year.
 
Freshman Charlie Reiter tied for 41^st at par 216 (71-71-74) and senior Sam Kim tied for 61^st at 6-over 222 (73-74-75).
 
On the adjacent Sonoran Course at OMNI Tucson National, junior Kyle Suppa played in the 21-man individual field and tied for sixth at 3-under 207 (67-67-73).
