KEY PLAYERS
- 10 different Trojans scored, but freshman midfielder Erin Bakes led with a career-high four goals and her first hat trick.
- Sophomore goalie Riley Hertford gets credit for the victory and put up five saves with two ground balls through 36:52, but junior netminder Hannah Upshaw was just as instrumental in securing the shutout with three saves in 23:08 of action.
- Senior defender Jackie Gilbert dominated the center circle to the tune of 10 draw controls for her seventh-career double-digit draw control game. Gilbert also had two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- Sophomore attacker Sophia Donovan, sophomore midfielder Kelsey Huff, and junior attacker Hope Anhut each had three points apiece. All three Trojans scored two goals and had an assist on the day.
- Junior midfielder Kerrigan Miller caused five turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
- For the Ducks, despite the loss and the 16 goals surrendered, freshman goalie Rachel Hall tallied 17 saves in 60 minutes of action. Julia Taylor and Haileigh Farrell each picked up three ground balls.
- The Trojans out-shot the Ducks by an incredible 47-13 margin and won the center circle by a 14-4 edge. USC forced Oregon into 20 turnovers and were credited with 16 caused turnovers including five stops in transition.
- It took 32 seconds for the Trojans to score the first goal of the game. Junior midfielder Kaeli Huff found junior attacker Izzy McMahon to get things started. USC had a 3-0 lead before 10 minutes elapsed but was slowed by the Oregon defense until senior attacker Emily Concialdi scored the sixth USC goal and Anhut the seventh for a 7-0 lead at the break.
- Out of halftime, Kelsey Huff started the Trojans on a 9-0 half with her goal at 27:27. Bakes scored her third of the game and then Huff put up another for a 10-0 lead that got the running clock going.
- The Trojans stayed strong on defense and got plenty of goals from their bench including junior attacker Ashley Hill's fourth of the season and the third of the season for both junior midfielder Kelly Johansen and junior attacker Sarah Larkin. One of the most impressive goals game came from freshman Chelsea Kovinsky who powered her way to goal unassisted and scored the first of her career to make it 15-0 for the Trojans with 7:34 to play.
- USC goes cross country for a big non-conference match-up next weekend. The Trojans take on No. 20 Stony Brook (7-4) at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Women of Troy and the Seawolves will draw at noon ET (9 a.m. PT) on Sunday (April 14). The game will be shown and streamed live on AmericaEast.tv.
- USC improved to 7-3 all-time against Oregon and sweeps the regular-season series with the Ducks (2-0).
- The Trojans improved to 43-11 at McAlister Field and to 45-13 all-time in home games.
- USC's shutout is the first in program history and the first in Pac-12 Conference history. It is the first shutout produced by a Pac-12 team since Colorado defeated Saint Mary's College, 23-0, on April 15, 2016, while part of the MPSF.
- Previously, the fewest goals scored against USC was one; a 19-1 win over Fresno State on April 20, 2013.
- The Trojans' 47 shots taken were just one shy of the school record of 48 (March 1, 2013) and ranks second in program history.
- USC had 10 different goal scorers for the second time this season; the first time, USC had 11 against California (March 23).
