KEY PLAYERS
- Sophomore goalie Riley Hertford posted seven saves and had two ground balls in goal. Junior goalie Hannah Upshaw spelled Hertford in the second half and had three saves and no goals scored against her.
- Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Huff scored three goals for her fifth hat trick of the season (11th of her career) and had two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior midfielder Kaeli Huff scored three goals for her seventh-career hat trick.
- Senior attacker Emily Concialdi dished out a career-high four assists and scored a goal from free position.
- Junior attacker Hope Anhut had two goals and two assists. Sophomore attacker Sophia Donovan also had two goals and two assists. Anhut had two ground balls and Donovan added a caused turnover.
- Senior defender Jackie Gilbert led the Trojans with five draw controls and had two ground balls.
- For the Bears, Caroline Corzel scored two goals. Kirsten Swanson and Nikki Zaccaro each had one goal apiece. Susie Ropp recorded the only Cal assist. Jenny Wilkens had six saves as the losing goalie of record.
- Anhut opened scoring less than 90 seconds into the game off a dish from Concialdi, but Corzel had the equalizer just five minutes later. It took 15 minutes for either team to score again, but USC went on a 3-0 run and extended to a 7-2 run to go into halftime with an 8-3 lead on the second of Kaeli Huff's three goals.
- Kelsey Huff and Donovan scored unassisted goals to push the Trojans ahead, 10-3, out of the break, but the Bears snapped the run on Corzel's second goal of the game.
- USC held the Golden Bears scoreless for the final 27:23 of the game and ended on a 6-0 run to complete a 16-4 victory; the Trojans' second 12-goal win over Cal in the last eight days.
- USC heads down to the South Bay to take on No. 20 Stanford (7-3, 3-2 Pac-12) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday (March 31) at 1 p.m. PT. The game will be shown live on Pac-12 Bay Area.
- USC improved to 8-1 against California and has won eight in a row over the Golden Bears. The Trojans also improved to 9-3 in all-time games played in the Bay Area, including 4-0 at Cal.
- The Women of Troy beat Cal by a double-digit margin for the sixth time in the teams' last eight meetings.
- USC produced a double-digit victory for the third time this season and matches its previous two 12-goal victories (ASU/Cal).
