USC Athletics

USC won 13 events during the final day of action at the second annual Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge in Miami, Fla. today (March 23).  During the two days of action, USC athletes won 14 of the 26 events in which it competed.  Winning events today were for the men: Isaiah Jewett (400m), Omotade Ojora (110m hurdles), Cameron Samuel (400m hurdles), Earnest Sears III (high jump), Sam VanDorpe (800m) and the 4x400m relay.  Women winning events were: Alyssa Brewer (800m), Chanel Brissett (100m hurdles), Bailey Lear (400m), Isabella Marten (triple jump), Kaelin Roberts (200m), TeeTee Terry (100m) and Lanae-Tava Thomas (long jump).

• Earnest Sears III won the men's high jump with a clearance of 7-1.50 (2.17m), making that height in his third attempt.
• Lanae-Tava Thomas won the women's long jump with a best leap of 19-9.00/6.02m (+0.5) in her first jump.  She did not improve in the next two rounds and passed on her final three attempts.  Margaux Jones finished third with a wind-aided best jump of 19-2.75/5.86m (+2.7w).
• Chanel Brissett won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of13.31 (-2.6w) into a strong headwind.
• Omotade Ojora won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.16 (-0.4).
• Bailey Lear won the women's 400m dash with a season-best time of 52.86.  That time is second on the NCAA descending order list entering today's action.
• Isaiah Jewett won the men's 400m race with a PR of 46.29.  His time moves him to third on the NCAA descending order list entering Saturday's action. Talin Lewis finished seventh with a time of 49.55.
• TeeTee Terry won the women's 100m dash with a time of 11.21 (+0.4).  Her time ranks second in the early season entering today's action.  Angie Annelus was third in the 100m with a time of 11.50 (+0.4), Dior Hall was fifth at 11.61 (+1.3), Chanel Brissett was 10^th at 11.85 (+1.3) and Margaux Jones was 13^th with a PR of 11.94 (+1.3).
• Alyssa Brewer won the women's 800m race with a PR and the seventh-fastest time ever by a Trojan of 2:04.93.  Jemima Russell had a time of 2:06.09 to place third and tied for 11^th on USC's all-time list.
• Sam VanDorpe won the men's 800m race with a time of 1:51.64, while Matthew Myrtue was third at 1:52.86, David Hulme was eighth at 1:54.82 and Mitch Libby was 13^th at 1:59.15.
• Cameron Samuel won the men's 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 51.25.  His time currently ranks fourth on the national descending order list.
• Isabella Marten won the women's triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 42-11.50/13.09m (+2.3w). That leap ranks third among NCAA women's triple jumpers.
• Kaelin Roberts won the women's 200m dash with a PR of 22.97 (-0.4), the fastest time among collegiate runners entering Saturday's action.  Mecca McGlaston was fourth with a PR of 23.70 (-2.1), Dior Hall was fifth at 23.72 (-0.4), Kyra Constantine was seventh at 23.80 (-2.1) and Lear was 14^th at 24.15 (-2.1).
• The men's 4x400m relay team of Cameron Samuel, Isaiah Jewett, Eric Allen Jr. and Matthew Myrtue had a season-best time of 3:10.36 to win.  The women's 4x400m relay team of Kyra Constantine, TeeTee Terry, Jemima Russell and Alyssa Brewer had a season-best time of 3:39.71 to place third.
• Alexa Harmon-Thomas took third in the women's high jump with a clearance of 5-5.25 (1.66m).
• Karlee Freeman placed fourth in the women's discus throw with a best mark of 164-8 (50.20m) in her final attempt.
• Joy McArthur placed fourth in the women's hammer throw 195-4 (59.53m) and Freeman placed 13^th with a best throw of 129-5 (39.44m).
• The women's 4x100m relay team was disqualified for an exchange outside of the zone, while the men's 4x100m relay team placed third with a time of 40.60.
• Daniel Robinson led the Trojans with a PR of 10.59 (+0.7) to place fourth in the men's 100m dash.  Brendon Stewart also had a PR of 10.60 (+2.0) to place fifth by .004 seconds over Alexander Barnum who was fifth at 10.60 (+0.7), Earvin da Silva was eighth at 10.65 (+2.0) and Nick Moore was 10^th at 10.72 (+2.0).
• Talin Lewis took fourth in the men's long jump with a best jump of 22-6.50/6.87m (+1.2).
• Chloe Berry placed fifth in the women's 1500m race with a time of 4:33.90.
• Nathan Bultman took sixth in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 185-0 (56.38m).  He had that in his first attempt, the finished with five fouls.  Jason Kim placed eighth with a best mark of 156-6 (47.70m), snapping a streak of three consecutive meets posting a PR.
• Mitch Libby placed ninth in the men's 1500m race with a time of 4:03.71.
• In the men's 200m dash, Omotade Ojora was ninth at 21.71 (-0.6), Earvin da Silva was 10^th at 21.76 (-0.6), Alexander Barnum was 11^th at 21.78 (-0.6) and Eric Allen Jr. was 13^th at 21.81 (-0.6).
