Katnik Wins Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge Shot Put; Moves to 5th On USC's All-Time List

Matthew Katnik won the men's shot put with a personal best and he moved into fifth on USC's all-time list during the first day of the second annual Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge in Miami, Fla. today (March 22).
- The redshirt junior Katnik was the only Trojan to compete during the first day of the Power 5 Trailblazer Challenge, but he made it a special day. He opened the day with a throw of 63-2.25 (19.26m) which would have won the competition, but he followed it up in the second round with a new personal best shot put of 64-6.50 (19.67m). Katnik's mark moved him from seventh to fifth on the USC all-time shot put list and improved his nation-leading mark. He won today's event by a foot and a half.
The remainder of the meet will begin at 7 a.m. PT tomorrow with the women's high jump, with the action on the track beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT.
