USC Wins 11 More Events & Posts 3 School Top 10 Results At Trojan Invitational

Isabella Marten won the women's triple jump and the women's 4x100m relay won with USC all-time top 10 performances to lead the Trojans during the final day of action at the 2019 Trojan Invitational today (March 16). USC won 11 events today and its athletes set 14 personal bests. The day began with All-American hurdler
Anna Cockrell singing the National Anthem and the Trojan seniors being honored.
- The redshirt junior Katnik won the men's shot put competition with a PR of 63-10.25 (19.46m) in the fifth round. That throw moved him from ninth to seventh on USC's all-time shot put list. Katnik's sixth-round throw went for 63-7 (19.38m) which also bettered his previous PR.
- The redshirt senior Marten, in her first outdoor meet as a Trojan, won the women's triple jump with a leap of 42-6-75 (12.97m), more than three-feet farther than the nearest competitor. Marten's jump, which she made in both the second and fifth rounds, moves her into eighth-place on USC's all-time women's triple jump list.
- USC's women's 4x100m relay team of Lanae-Tava Thomas, Chanel Brissett, Angie Annelus and TeeTee Terry won with a time of 43.35, tied for ninth on USC's all-time list and an NCAA-leading time. The group was composed of a freshman, two sophomores and a junior. Last season USC's women's 4x100m placed third at nationals and opened up with a time of 43.49 at the Trojan Invitational.
- The men's 4x100m relay team of freshman Brendon Stewart, sophomore Zach Shinnick, sophomore Earvin da Silva and freshman Eric Allen Jr. had a time of 40.10 to win the event by nearly a second over Washington State.
- Redshirt senior Alexa Harmon-Thomas won the women's high jump with a clearance of 5-8.00 (1.73m). She tried for a PR of 5-10.75 (1.79m) after clinching the meet, but missed on her three attempts. Sophomore Cassidy Palka tied for third with a clearance of 5-6.00 (1.68m).
- Freshman Nathan Patterson was the only Trojan to compete in the men's high jump and he took fifth with a best clearance of 6-4.75 (1.95m).
- Freshman Omotade Ojora won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.80 (+1.0) in his first outdoor hurdles race for USC.
- Samuel won the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 51.33.
- Freshman Bailey Lear won the women's 400m race with a time of 53.25 in her first outdoor 400m race as a Trojan. All of the other women ran plus-55 seconds.
- Lanae-Tava Thomas won the women's 100m dash with a PR of 11.47 (+0.0). Redshirt senior Dior Hall won the second heat and finished 2nd overall with a PR of 11.58 (-0.6). Senior Margaux Jones finished seventh overall with a time of 12.00 (-0.5), which matched her collegiate best.
- In the men's 100m dash, da Silva had a big PR of 10.57 (-0.3) to take second in his heat and second overall. Freshman Daniel Robinson won his heat with a time of 10.71 (-1.4) and finished fifth overall. Sophomore Nick Moore finished ninth overall with a time of 10.94 (-1.4).
- Terry won the women's 200m dash with a time of 23.00 (-1.1), sophomore Kaelin Roberts was second with a PR of 23.01 (-1.1), Brissett was fifth with a PR of 23.77 (-1.1), Lear was sixth at 23.94 (-2.3) and junior Kayla Richardson was 11th at 24.42 (-2.3)
- Robinson won his heat and was fourth overall in the men's 200m with a PR of 21.36. Stewart was sixth in the 200m with a time of 21.55, da Silva was eighth with a PR of21.65 (-2.1), Ojora was 10th with a time of 21.71 (+1.2) and sophomore Tyler Rambo was 25th with a time of 23.36 (-3.1).
- In the men's 400m race, freshman Talin Lewis had a time of 49.29 to finish third in his heat and ninth overall.
- Jones placed second in the women's long jump with a best jump of 20-1.50 (6.13m). Lanae-Tava Thomas took third with a best jump of 19-5.25 (5.92m). Both jumpers passed on their final three attempts.
- Lewis also took second in the men's long jump with a best leap of 22-3.50 (6.79m).
- Junior Michael Gonzalez placed sixth in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 15-7.75 (4.77m). The winner of the event,KC Lightfoot, set a Loker Stadium record with a clearance of 18-5.25 (5.62m).
- In the women's 1500m races, freshman Alyssa Brewer placed second with a time of 4:29.24, freshman Jemima Russell was third with a time of 4:29.68, senior Lauren Maurer was 13th with a PR of 4:48.63 and sophomore Sydney Tullai was 19th with a PR of 4:53.88.
- In the men's John L. West 1500m races, junior Nicolaus Jakowec was third with a PR of 3:52.32, freshman Sam VanDorpe was fourth with a time of 3:53.32, junior Matthew Myrtue was fifth with a PR of 3:53.80, freshman Mitch Libby was 11th with a time of 3:58.55 and freshman John Dempsey was 12th with a time of 3:59.04. All five USC men ran sub-4 minutes, whereas last season only one runner (Robert Ford) broke 4:00 in the 1500m races for the Trojans.
- Freshman Brynn Sauer won her heat and was 10th overall in the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.33. sophomore Jennifer Daly placed 11th with a time of 2:16.55 and junior Chloe Berry finished 13th with a time of 2:17.49.
- Sophomore David Hulme won the men's 800m race with a PR of 1:52.54. Freshman Devin Bright was third overall with a PR of 1:54.59, Libby was seventh with a time of 1:58.50 and Dempsey was 10th with a time of 2:00.05.
- Redshirt sophomore Colette "Coco" Putnum took ninth in the women's javelin throw with a best mark of 105-0 (32.01m).
- In the women's 4x400m relay, the "A team" of Richardson, Lear, junior Angie Annelus and Hall finished second with a time of 3:40.22 and the "B team" of Brewer, Russell, Sauer and Daly placed fourth with a time of 3:51.58.
- The men's 4x400m relay "B team" of Bright, freshman Eric Allen Jr., Robinson and Myrtue had a time of 3:17.48 to place third and the "A team" of Lewis, VanDorpe, Hulme and Rambo placed fifth with a time of 3:23.44. The Trojan Elite team featuring former USC athletes Ricky Morgan Jr., Michael Norman and Rai Benjamin (and Andre Chapman) won with a time of 3:07.61.
