LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A trio of USC women's soccer players — redshirt senior forward Alex Anthony, junior defender Ally Prisock and junior forward Leah Pruitt — were each named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Teams, as announced Tuesday (Nov. 28) by the organization. Anthony and Prisock, both members of the All-Pac-12 First Team, were named to the All-West Region First Team, while Pruitt earned a spot on the All-West Region Third Team.
Forward Alex Anthony was the Trojans' leading goal scorer this season, netting eight goals (three game-winners) and adding two assists for a total of 18 points. In just two years at Troy since arriving as a transfer from Maryland in 2016, Anthony cemented herself as one of the most dangerous scorers in the Pac-12. She has already made her way into the USC record books in just 43 games in the Cardinal and Gold, appearing in the top-10 all-time in program history for goals, game-winning goals and shots. In addition to her Pac-12 First Team honors in 2017, Anthony was also named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honors for her efforts on the field and in the classroom, boasting a 3.66 GPA as a graduate student pursuing her Masters in Public Policy at USC. Last season, Anthony earned NSCAA All-Pacific Region Second Team honors.
Defender Ally Prisock joins Anthony on the All-West Region First Team for the first time in her career. A starter on the back line in every game since arriving at USC, Prisock has anchored the Trojan defense in her three years and was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team this season after helping USC to just a 0.85 goals against average. She saw action in all 20 games in 2017 and also added an assist to her tally while garnering a Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week nod (Oct. 24) and a spot in the Top-20 of TopDrawer Soccer's College Player Rankings. Prior to the season, Prisock was also named to the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy Award preseason watch list as one of the nation's best defenders.
Forward Leah Pruitt makes her first appearance on an All-West Region Team, earning Third Team honors in 2017. The junior started all 20 games this year and finished second on the team with six goals. She also added four assists for a total of 16 points, garnering All-Pac-12 honors for the first time in her career with a spot on the Second Team. Pruitt established herself as an immediate impact player since arriving at USC in 2016 as a transfer from San Diego State and has worked her way up the school record books in assists and game-winning goals with one more season of action at Troy to go.
Anthony, Prisock and Pruitt are three of 22 total Pac-12 conference players named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-West Region Teams.
