The Trojans hit the practice field for the final time of the regular season today in preparation for their rivalry game against UCLA on Saturday.
- Head coach Clay Helton said the injury report is the same as Tuesday's, but mentioned that QB Matt Fink (knee) will be able to practice tomorrow. Helton says this is the healthiest the team has been, as there was no injuries last week against Colorado either, and that the team is in a good scenario especially with a week off before the Pac-12 Championship.
- Helton stressed the importance of third-downs and turnovers on Saturday as, "Anytime you deal with the Pac-12 and these high powered offenses, it's about keeping the ball, and that's one of the things we've been able to do very well." In fact, USC is first in the conference in first downs and fourth in time of possession.
- Helton said he spoke to seniors S Chris Hawkins and WR Steven Mitchell Jr. about how they have the opportunity to leave a legacy with what they accomplish against UCLA this weekend. "They're fighting for the opportunity to be undefeated in the Coliseum the past two seasons. They have the opportunity to have two back-to-back November runs and be 4-0. Opportunity to keep the Victory Bell right here, and you know, [the seniors] are really a group that have carried us to a Rose Bowl and possibly a Pac-12 Championship."
- USC's 2018 football schedule was released today, and Helton said he was happy with it. He was excited to have a Friday home game after two years of Friday away games. He also liked the fact that after two straight away games in week two and three against Stanford and Texas, respectively, there are no other back-to-back road games. Helton believes those factors along with having a bye in week five, which the team did not have this year, will prove to be advantageous.
