Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry set the USC freshman 200m record and nine more individuals plus three relays qualified for the NCAA Track & Field Championships during the final day of the 2018 NCAA West Regional hosted by Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif. today (May 26). During the course of the NCAA West Regional, USC qualified 20 athletes in 25 individual events, plus three relays to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. from June 6-9.     Â

- The running portion of the day began for the Trojans with the men's 4x100m relay and it did not go as planned. The team of T.J. Brock, Rai Benjamin, Zach Shinnick and Michael Norman didn't finish as there was a dropped baton on the first exchange.
- The women's 4x100m relay team of Dior Hall, Kendall Ellis, Deanna Hill and TeeTee Terry quickly punched its ticket to nationals by winning the first heat with a time of 43.58, despite a little trouble with its first handoff. USC's time was second among the qualifying teams.
- Next on the track for the Trojans was the women's 100m hurdles quarterfinal and USC advanced four runners through to the NCAA Championships in the event. Chanel Brissett was the first to advance by placing second in the first heat and second overall with a time of 12.86 (+1.5). Dior Hall was second with a time of 12.91 (+2.6w), Anna Cockrell third at 12.99 (+2.6w), Mecca McGlaston fourth at 13.27 (+2.6w) and Lydsey Lopes eighth at 13.84 (+2.6w) in the second heat. Hall and Cockrell automatically advanced with the fourth and sixth-fastest times respectively, and McGlaston grabbed the final non-automatic qualifying spot to advance to nationals.
- Zach Shinnick placed fifth in his men's 200m quarterfinal heat with a time of 21.06 and finished 18th overall in the event.
- TeeTee Terry, Deanna Hill and Angie Annelus all automatically advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 200m dash, just as they did yesterday in the 100m. Terry was first, running a USC freshman-record time of 22.74 (+1.4) to win the first heat and finish second overall. She bettered the school freshman standard of 22.84 set by Jessica Davis in 2011. Hill won the second heat and was first overall with a season-best wind-legal time of 22.67 (+1.1). Annelus was second in the final quarterfinal heat and sixth overall with a time of 22.91 (+1.2).
- The men's 4x400m relay team of Rai Benjamin, Zach Shinnick, Robert Ford and Michael Norman won its heat and had the fastest qualifying time of 3:01.11. That time is the third-fastest men's 4x400m relay in school history and currently second this year among college teams.'
- The women's 4x400m relay team of Anna Cockrell, Deanna Hill, Kyra Constantine and Kendall Ellis won its heat and was second among the qualifiers from the West Regional with a time of 3:30.57. That time moves this group into 11th on USC's all-time list in the event.
- Nick Ponzio earned his fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships in the men's shot put with his best mark today of 62-8.00 (19.10m). He placed eighth among the advancing throwers from the regional.
- Sears passed at 6-7 (2.01m) and entered the competition at 6-9.00 (2.06m). He cleared that in his first attempt as he did the next height of 6-11.00 (2.11m). He could not make 7-1.00 (2.16m), but only nine jumpers did, so he then began a nine-man jumpoff for the final three spots. Ultimately Sears would clear 6-11.75 (2.13m) and grab one of the final three spots to advance to the NCAA Championships in the high jump.
- Dominic Smallwood had a season-best triple jump of 51.1.50/15.58m (+0.8) to sit in second place after the first two sections of the men's triple jump with two more to go. When it was over, Smallwood had slipped to 14th place. A total of two inches separated the No. 10 got No. 14 jumpers. Eric Sloan was credited with three fouls, but he did not jump as his hamstring felt tight
- Joy McArthur began the day for the Trojans in the women's hammer throw and she finished 32nd with a best mark of 182-10 (55.74m).
