McArther & Bultman Lead USC During First Day Of The Trojan Invitational

Joy McArthur won the women's hammer throw and Nathan Bultman placed second in the men's hammer throw to highlight the first day of action for USC at the Trojan Invitational today (March 16). The hammer throw and discus throw were contested at Long Beach State and the steeplechase and women's 3000m races took place at Loker Stadium. The majority of the meet takes place tomorrow at Loker Stadium on the USC campus, beginning at 10 a.m. and running through 2:30 p.m. Included in tomorrow's action in the Los Angeles city high school relay championships.

   • The freshman McArthur competed in her first collegiate meet and won the women's hammer throw with a best mark of 197-1 (60.07m).
   • The redshirt sophomore Bultman took second in the men's hammer throw with a PR of 204-11 (62.47m). For Bultman, it was his first official meet for USC since competing at the 2016 NCAA West Regional. He redshirted last season with a wrist injury.
   • Bultman also placed fourth in the men's discus throw with a best throw of 169-3 (51.59m).
   • Three Trojans, junior Lauren Mauer and freshmen Julia Bounds and Sydney Tullai, used the women's 3000m steeplechase for training and ran the first four laps. Mauer's split through four laps was 5:10.3, Bounds 5:11.0 and Tullai 5:22.9.
