For the 33rd time in school history, USC has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 conference title.
The Trojans earned the top spot in the 2017 Pac-12 preseason poll by earning 28 of the 52 first-place votes cast by media members who cover Pac-12 football. Forty-nine of those 52 also chose USC as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 South division.
USC was chosen as the preseason Pac-12 favorite over defending conference champ Washington, which earned 22 first-place votes. In last year's meeting between the two schools, the Trojans upset the Huskies, 26-13, in Seattle. This year, the Huskies are predicted to meet the Trojans in the Pac-12 Football Championship game on Friday, Dec. 1 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
The Trojans head into the 2017 season with high hopes, loaded with talent on both offense and defense. Leading Heisman Trophy candidate Sam Darnold and Doak Walker Award candidate Ronald Jones II headline a potent attack on one side of the ball. On the other, the Trojans have a wealth of experience between linebackers Cameron Smith, Porter Gustin and Uchenna Nwosu, cornerback Iman Marshall and more.
USC's 2017 football season begins on Sept. 2, when the Trojans host Western Michigan at 2:15 p.m.
